The Crow and the Sparrow

In the winter of 1948, the two-story Shikumen old house at No. 23 Renkangli, Linsen Road, Shanghai. The house originally belonged to the newspaper proofreader Kong Youwen (played by Wei Heling). During the Anti-Japanese War, it was occupied by the traitor Hou Yibo (played by Li Tianji). Kong was reduced from the landlord to a tenant. After the War of Resistance Against Japan, Hou changed his identity and became the section chief of the Ministry of National Defense in Nanjing. He went to Shanghai every Saturday to "buy and sell." In addition to Kong, the family of small businessman Boss Xiao (played by Zhao Dan) and the family of Zhongzheng No. 1 Middle School teacher Hua Jiezhi (played by Sun Daolin) are also tenants here. The three tenants met to discuss, but they were not united and had to find their own way out. Hua went to school to ask for a room, but refused to win over the principal (played by Paul Lee) because he did not want to betray his friends. Soon after, he was arrested in connection with the strike incident. Hua's wife (played by Shangguan Yunzhu) ran around to no avail, so she had no choice but to ask Hou for help, but Hou took the opportunity to seduce her. Kong's search for a house was unsuccessful and he had nowhere to move. Hou bribed a gangster (played by Zhang Zhizhi) and beat him up. Xiao Xianghou borrowed a loan shark to "make gold and build a house". He was first beaten up by everyone, and then the price of gold rose. The three tenants had no choice but to finally unite to fight against the evil forces.
