Little Women [Film and TV Commentary]

Concord, Massachusetts during the Civil War. The March family is an ordinary family in the town. The father is away at war, leaving behind a strong wife and four daughters. Meg is sixteen years old and looks like a beautiful lady. Jo (Verena Ryder) is fifteen years old and loves writing. The articles she publishes pay off various expenses for her family. Beth is gentle and well-behaved, and shyly loves the piano. Amy is the youngest and prettiest, and a bit pushy. Mrs. March's strength gave her four daughters strength. They often helped poor residents, and Christmas was no exception. When their neighbor Mr. Lawrence heard about this, he prepared a rich dinner for these lovely little women. Lawrence's grandson Laurie also became good friends with Jo and became a member of the March family.
