On December 27, 1937, the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China held an emergency meeting in Gizidian. Based on the rapidly changing situation, the meeting decided to formally hold an uprising before Taicheng was captured by the Japanese invaders. Japanese Lieutenant Colonel Hamano Takahiro entered Taicheng as the vanguard of the Japanese army. Yatou Village in Culai Mountain is celebrating the wedding of Yang Dongliang, the second son of village chief Yang Shounan. On the way to marry the bride Hu Lamei, Yang Dongliang and others encountered a robbery by the bandit leader Ju Zhenshan. The young and energetic Yang Dongliang led his men to suppress the bandits, but accidentally killed two Japanese scouts. Yang Shounan's eldest son Yang Dongshan took Feng Chao and other comrades from the provincial party committee back to Yatou Village to prepare for the uprising. However, they were betrayed by the traitor Lu Maoheng, resulting in Yatou Village being bloodbathed by the Japanese squadron led by Hamano Takahiro. On January 1, 1938, Feng Chao, Yang Dongshan and others convened more than 160 patriots from all walks of life at the Culaishan Temple to swear an uprising and established the "Fourth Detachment of the Eighth Route Army Shandong Anti-Japanese Guerrillas". Yang Dongliang and his newlywed wife Hu Lamei, led by Feng Chao and others, successfully lurked into Taicheng, destroyed a series of Japanese strategic plans, and annihilated the Japanese troops led by Hamano Takahiro in one fell swoop.
