Synopsis
Colin (played by Rupert Everett) and Mary (played by Natasha Richardson), whose emotional relationship has reached an impasse, came to Venice for vacation, trying to change their lazy and boring life. One night, they met the local Mr. Robert (Christopher Walken), who revealed his childhood scars to the strange lovers and promoted extreme male chauvinism. Colin and Mary felt some kind of unspeakable threat, but their boredom with ordinary life and their pursuit of excitement made them involuntarily accept Robert's invitation to his home. Robert's wife Caroline (Helen Mirren) tells Mary about her complicated sadomasochistic relationship with Robert, which causes some ambiguous changes in Mary's psychology. Coupled with this uneasy stimulation, it magically rekindles the long-extinguished fire of love between her and Colin.
