Condry (Gérard Depardieu) has a happy family that everyone envies. Although he has been married to his wife for many years, their relationship is still sweet and strong. Unfortunately, this life came to an end with the arrival of Philip (Henri Garcin) and Mathilde (Fanny Ardant). It turns out that there was once a passionate and sincere relationship between Mathilde and Condry, but due to various misunderstandings, the two failed to bear fruit in the end. Now that they are married, they meet again, and they have mixed feelings in their hearts. As time passes and the flames begin to rekindle within the ashes of love, both Mathilde and Condry betray their respective families. It didn't take long for Philip to discover his wife's infidelity. He forcibly took Mathilde away and the two moved elsewhere. The sad Mathilde could not bear another separation, and her stubbornness and extremeness paved the way for the subsequent tragedy.
