little boy Hugo (Asa Butterfield Asa Butterfield) is born with mechanical control. He stayed at the clock tower of the Paris train station and occasionally went to the toy store to steal some parts to repair the robot left behind by his father (Jude Law). During a shoplifting, he was caught on the spot by the shopkeeper George Merrier (played by Ben Kingsley).
