Summer 2004

Miriam (Martina Gedeck) has a happy family. She and her husband Andrew (Peter Davor) trust each other and are close; she and her son Niels (Lucas Kotaranin) understand each other and talk about everything. One day, Nils brought his girlfriend Livia (Svea Lohde) back to his hometown for vacation. Soon, Miriam discovered that there seemed to be an intimate relationship between Livia and a man named Bill (Robert Seeliger) that went beyond friendship. Driven by curiosity, Miriam began to approach Bill, but she was also attracted by the gentle and elegant temperament exuding from Bill, and she and Livia turned into a love rival. People cannot control their own hearts. Even though she knows that this kind of emotion is hopeless and immoral, Miriam still sinks deeper and deeper into the whirlpool.
