The Return of Martin Guerre

The story takes place in the French countryside in the 16th century. Martin (Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu) is a man who does nothing all day long. One day, he suddenly abandoned his wife Bertrand (Nathalie Baye). ) and two lovely children, their whereabouts remain unknown. In the blink of an eye, seven years have passed. Martin has not appeared, and Bertrand has not received news of his death. Just like his sudden disappearance, Martin appeared again one day. Martin told Bertrand that he had been helping the French king in his northern and southern expeditions over the years. What surprised Bertrand was that Martin seemed to behave like a different person, gentle and hard-working. Although everyone in the village thinks that Martin is an impostor, Bertrand is convinced that this is her husband who disappeared seven years ago.
