Justin (Jennifer Aniston) and Phil (John C. Reilly) are a couple who have been married for many years. Their relationship has long been in name only. Phil is addicted to drugs and alcohol, and hangs out with his bad friend Buda (Tim Blake Nelson) all day long. The side effects of the drug made Phil suffer from infertility, and Justin's desire to become a mother was ruthlessly deprived. The appearance of a young boy named Holden (Jake Gyllenhaal) attracts Justin's attention. Justin is deeply fascinated by Holden's maverick lifestyle. As time goes by, the relationship between them finally goes beyond simple friendship. Buda discovered the affair between Justin and Holden, and began a long blackmail against Justin. To make matters worse, at this juncture, Justin found out that he was pregnant.
