The Scent of the Lady in Black

A non-competition film at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. It is adapted from the classic mystery novel of the same name by the famous French detective novelist Caston Leroux. Its most famous ones are "The Phantom of the Opera", "The Secret of the Yellow Room" and its sequel "The Scent of the Lady in Black". This masterpiece was put on the screen twice in the 1930s and 1940s. French director Bruno Podarides continued his efforts after "The Secret of the Yellow Room: Bullet Shredder" in 2003, and produced the latest version of this sequel in 2005. The plot follows newlyweds Mathilde and Robert who vacation at the castle of their friends Edith and Arthur Lance. Unexpectedly, Lassan, the absconding criminal in the Grondy Coconut Castle case, reappeared, frightening Mathilde.
