The Five Day War

The film tells the story of the conflict between Russia and Georgia in August 2008. The 2008 South Ossetia War was a war that took place in Georgia in August 2008. One side was the Georgian government, and the other side was South Ossetia, which unilaterally declared independence, and its supporters, Abkhazia and Russia. Since August 1, there have been several exchanges of fire between Georgia and South Ossetia. In the early morning of August 8, Georgia launched a full-scale military operation and soon controlled more than 23 South Ossetia areas and surrounded its capital Tskhinvali. The Russian army entered the South Ossetia region on the 8th, launched a military operation on the 9th and quickly took control of Tskhinvali, and in the following days occupied Georgian territory and military bases outside South Ossetia. With the mediation of all international parties, Georgia and Russia signed ceasefire agreements on the 15th and 16th respectively. Russian troops began to withdraw from Georgia on the 18th, and the war ended. This war resulted in a total of 215 Georgian army deaths and 1,469 wounded; 74 Russian army deaths, 171 wounded, 19 missing people, and the death of approximately 1,600 South Ossetian civilians.
