Yongzheng and Nian Gengyao

In the later years of Kangxi, all the princes coveted the throne, among which the fourth prince Yinzhen and the fourteenth prince Yinqi competed most fiercely. Kangxi pre-established a secret edict to be placed at the Fourteenth Son, and Yinzhen ordered Nian Gengyao to try to usurp the position at the Fourteenth Son. Yinzhen was later promoted to the position of general. After Nian helped Yongzheng gain the throne, he was ordered to conquer the West. He was invincible and his reputation spread far and wide. Yongzheng was worried about it, so he took the opportunity to promote Nian Gengyao to the eighteenth level in one day, and was demoted from general to "foreign affairs commander" of the city gate. Nian conspired with the patriots to revolt, but was killed by Yongzheng because of his betrayal.
