Daniel (Ralph Macchio) ) defeated Chris's apprentice in a much-anticipated competition and won the first place. This made Chris, who was extremely competitive, so angry that he beat up his apprentice. Eventually, the disgraced Chris was forced to close the dojo and disappear from the industry. Terry (Thomas Ian Griffith) is Chris's friend. Seeing that his once-famous friend was now in a situation where everyone was shouting and beating him, he was angry and determined to seek revenge on Daniel.
