U.S. Air Force General Jack Wray (Sterling Hayden) suspects that the "rotten ideas" of the Soviet Communist Party are poisoning the "righteous and kind" American people, so he orders flying troops carrying nuclear warheads to go to the Soviet Union to carry out devastating nuclear strikes against the enemy. When the Soviet Union learned of this, they immediately called U.S. President Merkin Maffrey (Peter Sellers) and threatened that if their territory was attacked, the Soviet Union would press the "doomsday device" at all costs. The device is powerful enough to destroy all life on Earth. A war about the fate of all mankind and even the entire earth began quietly and absurdly... The film is adapted from Peter George's 1958 novel "Red Alert" and is called the "Future Trilogy" together with "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "A Clockwork Orange".
