I'm Yours

Scientist Alma works in Berlin's famous Pergamon Museum. In order to obtain research funding, she agreed to participate in an unusual experiment. For three weeks, she will live with Tom, a humanoid robot designed to be her ideal life partner. Designed in a handsome human form, the machine was built for her pleasure. What follows is a tragic story that explores the concepts of love, longing, and humanity. Director Maria Schrader, winner of the Silver Bear for Actress and an accomplished film director, adapted Emma Braslavsky's story and imbued it with the suggestive power of cinema. She displays a deep understanding of acting chemistry, and she casts and directs a pair of leads who make for an interesting and unnatural, failed pair. But what could be more fruitful than studying the frisson between analysis and feeling? After all, poetry also makes use of left-brain logic.
