![The Book of Fantasy | | Black) and Tony DiTerlizzi's best-selling novel of the same name. Single mother Grace (Mary-Louise Parker), their twin sons Jared and Simon (Freddie Highmore) and their eldest daughter Malorie (Sarah Bolger) moved into the ancestral home of Spitwick, and encountered a series of strange things. During his solo investigation, Jared discovered the elf exploration guide of his great-aunt's father, Arthur Spitwick (David Strathairn), in the attic of the building. Despite a warning on the outside of the book, Jared reads the guide and then sees one of the elves described in the book, the brown elf Simbertek (voiced by Martin Short). Simbertek warned Jared not to take the book outside the protective circle of Spitwick's ancestral home, lest the evil spirit Morglas (Nick Nolte) take the guide as his own and harm other elves.
