Growing Up 1988

12-year-old Josh (played by Tom Hanks) seems to have some problems with his age: he is too short to ride the roller coaster, and he is too young to chase the girl he likes... So he threw 25 cents into an old wishing machine in the amusement park and made a wish to become an adult. Unexpectedly, when Josh got up the next day, he discovered that he had grown up nearly 20 years overnight. Now he was an out-and-out adult. Even his mother thought he was a stranger who kidnapped her son and kicked him out. Josh had to fend for himself and found a position in a toy company. By chance, Josh's childlike innocence and enthusiasm impressed the boss of the toy company. His ideas also won him frequent awards at work. He soon moved into a spacious apartment and started a romantic relationship with his young colleague Susan (Elizabeth Perkins). However, as the pressure of the adult world of work, life, and love began to approach Josh, Josh's heart, which had just turned 13, gradually felt sleepy and lost. He began to reflect on whether this was the growth he wanted... This film was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay.
