God's Will

The film's storyline involves a series of motiveless murders committed by various New York residents: a sniper shoots someone from a water tower; a father murders his family; and a police officer opens fire on a crowd during a St. Patrick's Day parade. The only thing the crimes have in common is the calm admission of guilt by the perpetrators, explaining, "It was God's will." While investigating the murders, Catholic police officer Peter Nicholas becomes increasingly troubled by the testimony of a man named Bernard Phillips, who discovers that each killer appears, seemingly unable to escape his own fate from being tied to this mysterious event. As he gets closer to the truth, his worst fears are confirmed.
