People have been attacked by great white sharks many times at the resort Amity Beach, and the police chief's wife, Ellen, has lingering fears about this. Years later, his son Sean took over the position of Sheriff. He mysteriously disappeared during a patrol at sea and was apparently attacked by a great white shark. When Ellen was grieving, a mysterious sailing adventurer appeared next to her, so they joined forces to deal with the great white shark.
