In 1951, on the edge of the British countryside, the Duluth family manor has become dilapidated over the years. 11-year-old Flavia Duluth is the most rebellious child in the family - she is obsessed with chemistry, especially proficient in poisons, and has a talent for detectives beyond her years. When a strange body turns up in the grounds of the manor, her father, Colonel Haviland, becomes the police's prime suspect. In order to clear her father's grievances, Flavia picked up a magnifying glass and chemical reagents and launched an investigation in the library, laboratory and hidden corners of the manor. She circles between police detectives, eccentric family members and town residents, searching for the truth amid layers of fog. As the investigation deepens, she gradually uncovers secrets that her family has hidden for many years.
