罗通（洪金宝 饰）和做饼的方师傅（孙越 饰）同时爱上了美丽温柔的阿冰（利智 饰），两人对阿冰展开了热烈的追求。当方师傅知道阿冰的心中早已经有了罗通时，善良的他选择了放弃，罗通和阿冰顺理成章的走到了一起。 麦芽糖（莫少聪 饰）是罗通的挚友，某日，他邂逅了名为小翠（袁洁莹 饰）的女子，并很快坠入了情网。然而，好友山楂饼（卢冠廷 饰）于无意之中暴露了小翠妓女的身份，使得麦芽糖自觉受到了背叛和欺骗，对麦芽糖一往情深的小翠亦深感受伤。在朋友们的劝解撮合之下，麦芽糖和小翠总算打开了心结喜结连理，却在结婚当晚被恶霸尤五（岑建勋 饰）双双杀死。悲愤之中，罗通决定替好兄弟报仇。
