1952年的苏俄还没有褪去战争的阴霾，6岁的桑亚和母亲卡嘉在一列火车上偶遇一位风度翩翩的军人托杨，于是桑亚又有了父亲。卡嘉非常享受婚姻带给自己的甜蜜，而小桑亚似乎也开始接受这个崇尚武力的继父。但有天他们却发现托杨其实是一个以军人身份做掩护的惯偷。托杨总是带着他们奔走于各地，在一个地方混熟后，便制造机会把邻居家洗劫一空，然后又寻找新的目标。
