夏利出租车强制退出北京运营市场，像老舍先生笔下骆驼祥子的人力车一样，成为北京交通工具演变史中重要记忆的前夕，徐师傅是为数不多的夏利出租车司机。徐师傅为人热情、心态平和，只要有人叫他帮忙，从来都是二话不说，话到人到，义务服务。所以徐师傅的生活过得清贫而恬淡，徐师傅也乐于在这种清贫和恬淡中独享一份快乐。 一天，徐师傅送完朋友刚进胡同口就被一位年轻人拦住。年轻人急于办事，将背包往后备箱一扔，钻进副驾驶位置，扔下一句去朝阳炫特区倒头就睡。车到炫特区，徐师傅叫醒年轻人，年轻人付完钱票都没要匆匆下车。年轻人名叫周克。为赢得女朋友小娜的爱情，周克答应小娜，求师傅给小娜的父亲雕刻一尊翡翠玉佛，准备送给外方朋友。 周克走进大厦准备进电梯时才发现，装翡翠玉佛的背包扔在车里忘了拿。沮丧了一夜的周克第二天想起一件事，昨天坐的是夏利出租车。通过网上搜索，周克很快找到出租车公司...
