5·12”汶川地震忽然来袭，重灾区银杉镇凤凰村与外界的通道被震毁，几成一座孤村。在村支书吴中旺、解放军小分队、民警马千里、大学生刘嘉川等人的带领下，凤凰村村民度过最初的困难时期。道路疏通后，心理医生柳曼、“富二代”铁力等人纷纷来到凤凰村。铁力帮助村民建板房、建临时学校，柳曼设立心理诊疗所。村民吴小凤教其他人画绢画，借此抚平心灵创伤。中央公布了十八个省市对口支援地震灾区计划。大学生刘嘉川与村长霍家柱就重建规划产生极大争执，刘嘉川坚持自己的理念，竞选村长、争取重建资金，历经千辛万苦，终于确定凤凰村度假村重建规划。对口凤凰村的烟霞市援建单位在重建过程中，与当地村民同呼吸共命运，凤凰村得到了重生。
