本剧讲述抵御日寇掠夺中华文化遗产的故事。民国时期的通海镇，一座古墓引各路盗墓者垂涎，勇猛质朴的通海人固守于此，保护着它。随着日军对中国文化遗产的觊觎与掠夺，其魔爪伸向通海古墓。本剧讲述了在民国时期共产党人赵越泽（傅程鹏饰演）受命来到民风淳朴的通海通海镇，巧遇该镇的武装力量禁翊营大通侍许夏荷（杨舒饰），并带领当地民众武装力量，与日军、国军、土匪各方势力展开殊死博弈保护古墓，并与性格迥异的姐妹花许夏荷、许冬梅（张慧饰）产生了情感纠葛。书写了一段抵御外敌，守卫家园，保护文化，舍小义，重大义，为国土家园、为中华文化、为瑰宝遗产，舍生忘死捍卫国家民族尊严的传奇故事。
