在东北一个名叫银岭的小地方，当地一支民间艺术团正酝酿着全新的改革。受市场所影响，经营状况平平、无戏可演的艺术团决心打破铁饭碗，开始向企业转变，成立了银岭市民间艺术演出公司。转制后的一大举措即是对原有两队演员分流，郝军率队的一队因演出多、效益好确定保留，而演出寥寥、人员闲置的二队处境尤其危险。二队队长尤任友（唐鉴军 饰）和副队长于戴宁（于月仙 饰）计上心头，好不容易取得岳团（王小宝 饰）同意，二队得以暂时保留，但是为了生计，他们必须想方设法筹措各种演出。 在此之后，尤队将齐大鹏（小沈阳 饰）、王丹（毕畅 饰）以及被一队踢出的陈老抠（程野 饰）、周媛媛（陈爽 饰）等人召集在一起，开始了自谋生路的演艺之旅……
