即使是处于和平安宁的环境里，日本依然每年有8万4千的失踪报案。主人公相良凌介（西岛秀俊饰）一家四口人原本过着幸福的日子，但某天，妻子和孩子们突然消失，凌介也因此受到了媒体的关注。凌介苦苦寻找家人，却没有任何进展。此时网络上突然出现的信息爆料直指凌介可能谋杀了自己的妻儿。凌介在公众面前就毫无征兆地瞬间从失去妻儿的悲情丈夫变成了人人喊打的恶棍。网络舆论在一瞬间排山倒海般倾倒，凌介在焦虑和担心中还是决定和警察一起寻找自己的家人，但就在寻找的同时，一连串蹊跷的事情发生在他的职场与生活环境中：突然一具遗体被大件邮送到他的职场；突然又是失踪女儿的鞋子被发现丢在新房地基的水泥里；突然又是儿子失踪时随身携带的物品出现在家门口……经过不懈的努力，他和警方终于发现了家人失踪的蛛丝马迹。
