李心兰（萧淑慎 饰）和李柏杉（黄玉荣 饰）是情同手足的姐弟两，原本生活在一个温馨幸福的家庭之中的两人，在一夜之间失去了父母，沦为孤儿。善良的商人刘力伟（黄仲昆 饰）收留了无处可去的李家姐弟，两人虽然住处有了着落，不至于露宿街头，却要在这个偌大却并不温暖的大宅子里感受什么叫做寄人篱下的生活。 刘力伟的妻子碧芬（柯淑勤 饰）因为上一代人的爱恨纠葛而对李家姐弟的母亲心怀怨恨，无处发泄的她讲这些脾气都撒到了两个孩子身上。然而，在屈辱和忍耐之中，心兰心中始终都没有放弃过希望，她和刘力伟的儿子克谦（李元伯 饰）之间结下了深厚的友谊，这段友谊伴随着时间的发酵，渐渐成熟。
