萧家老妈洪宝钻（冯宝宝）有三个儿女，佩珍（何声美）国鹏（秦锦丰）与佩珠（郭淑贤），因儿女们各自忙碌，无暇陪老妈，甚至佳节来临也无法回家吃晚饭。宝钻表面豪不介意，其实内心渴望能常一家聚天伦。一日，宝钻在办年货时遇另一孤独老头何天光（曾江），因对方脾气古怪而难以忍受。谁知后来天光却向宝钻的儿女晓以大义，使他们明白妈妈心中的寂寞……
