故事的主人公名叫李甜甜，是个有音乐天赋且喜欢弹钢琴的十岁小姑娘。下岗的父母为了女儿开心，各自想尽了办法去赚辛苦钱，却没想到，祸不单行，父亲车祸身亡，母亲一个人赚钱养家遇地痞流氓，期间邻居赵刚骗了李家的钱而后人性回归。在才艺大赛得到第一名的奖品后，甜甜选择了放弃。因为母亲的健康和生命，远远比这架迟到的钢琴更为重要。
