梯族人为争夺资源迅速进攻蛙人国，蛙族连失多个移民星球后开始急促防御。钢兽、康、贝克和大炮等人抵御梯族侵略进入军校在机甲陆军学院相识，并很快成为了好朋友。几个人先后先认识了世袭，接着参与到了峰盐和明队长合作的补给任务，结识众人敬佩的明队长和其他前线战斗人员。所有人都兴奋不已，但原本很安全的补给任务却遭到了巫帝、利普顿等梯族名将的攻击。峰盐为了保全学员兵，奋力还击。第二舰队几乎全军覆没。蛙族高层不满此次失利，明队长将所有责任揽到自己身上，对峰盐的牺牲更是几度落泪。高层准备再次组建第二舰队，而以钢兽等人为首的学员兵也接受了授衔，正式编入AIU突击队，成为明队长的手下战将，这也是他们梦寐以求的。与此同时，被侵略者追杀的上官狼、上官鹰兄弟二人进入军校后进步惊人，且无意中见到了蛙族最为顶尖的舰船技术结晶—鱼骨刺突击舰。蛙族人正在酝酿着一场重大的自卫反击战……
