嬴政（刘永 饰）和燕太子丹（潘志文 饰）是青梅竹马的挚友，彼此之间有着深厚的友谊。之后，一直养在赵国的嬴政跟随父母回到了秦国，并且最终登上了皇位。在做太子期间，嬴政爱上了韩国公主韩弥（麦翠娴 饰），对其一往情深，可是韩弥喜欢的却是温文尔雅的太子丹。 登上王位之后，嬴政开始施展自己的野心，大有灭六国统一天下之势，他和太子丹之间的友谊因此产生了裂痕。荆轲（刘松仁 饰）决定刺杀嬴政，却在此过程中结识了猎户之女雪莹（米雪 饰），荆轲知道这将会是一场有去无回的旅途，忍住悲痛离开了爱人。最终，刺杀行动失败，荆轲丢掉了性命，却名垂千古。
