The manned spacecraft Ares 3 successfully arrived at Mars. Unexpectedly, an extremely destructive storm hit the astronauts. Ares 3 was forced to interrupt the mission and return home urgently. During the evacuation, astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) was hit by parts blown off the spacecraft. With little hope of survival, his teammates had to return in a hurry and announce to the world the fact that he had sacrificed. Unexpectedly, Mark survived with a very low probability. He hid in a space base stationed on Mars to recover from his injuries. The next mission to Mars will not be until four years later, and the supplies in the base are only enough to last him for 31 days. After a brief moment of despair, Mark decided to use the limited food to plant crops on the deserted planet in search of a glimmer of hope. At the same time, the earth quickly discovered the fact that Mark survived, and they tried their best to deploy a rescue plan. Can Mark, who is fighting alone, wait for the rescue team to arrive? The film is adapted from Andy Weir's science fiction novel of the same name.
