黑帮老大“校长”想金盆洗手，却被女友小嫂和手下阿一( 吴庆哲饰)出卖，并遭到追杀。“校长”将自己瑞士银行的密码告诉了孙女小雨，并给了她两张半截的美钞，声称关键时刻寄出，能得到江湖传奇人物神枪手和智多星的保护。阿一为了获得“校长”的巨款与境外的老大钟胜一（曾志伟饰）合作，杀死了“校长”，并四处寻找小雨的下落；警方派出了菜鸟警官王小飞（方力申饰）保护小雨，小雨也寄出了求救信。于是，智多星（黄秋生饰）和神枪手（吴镇宇饰）重出江湖，他们除了要和阿一斗智斗勇之外，还要时时警惕来自身边的危险……
