故事开始于数十年前，一寡妇临终把一对双胞胎婴儿交托两姊妹，兄长随养母移居南洋一荒岛，改名尚人，而其弟则被带来香港，落地生根，取名毛建树，二人断绝联络。尚人自小生长大富之家，男权至上，却感岛上无甚玩乐，加上其养母临终吐露身世之谜，但为要守孝，不能离岛半步，委派近身查理斯访探其弟下落。原来建树亦已成家立室，其妻欧嘉丽事业心极重，未能如建树所愿生得一儿半女。查理斯找到时，劝他趁机一振夫纲，往南洋与兄会面。兄弟会面，惊喜交集，竟想出调换身份，一试对方的生活习惯，尚人回港，一心要制服嘉丽，引起连番恶斗。而建树遇上千依百顺的人妻尤如丝，对之百般怜爱，可惜竟遭人暗算，而凶手竟是…
