历史武侠剧《兵权》根据史实改编而成，刻划家国大事，儿女私情，场面壮观，武打激烈。故事讲述赵匡胤（刘家辉）与结拜兄妹柴荣（惠天赐）、郑恩及贺彤（梁淑贞）共同扶助郭威（刘丹）建立后周，遭威之女婿张永德（黄允材）所不容，竟联合契丹耶律世藩（关礼杰）杀郭威，柴荣为夺帝位，故意不加援手，郭威重伤而死，传帝位予柴荣。另一方面，匡胤与好友秦傲（黎明）同时爱上耶律纳兰（邵美琪），纳兰与贺彤则争恋匡胤，匡胤与纳兰因处于敌对关系，未能结合，纳兰伤心返回契丹，匡胤终与贺丹成亲。柴宽松在皇后戚戚（王绮琴）献计下，利用匡胤终与耶律安图（关海山）议和，暗里派兵打契丹，二人因此渐生嫌隙，及后匡胤与屡立大功，深受官民爱戴，柴荣恐他拥兵叛变，施计夺其兵权，柴荣，匡胤终正面冲突。最后，匡胤败柴荣，被将领黄袍加身，拥立为帝，开国号宋，是为宋太祖。
