노무라 요시타로 · 일본 전국 시대인 에이로쿠 9년(1566년), 8명의 허약한 무사들이 산간 마을로 도망갔다가 다시 들판으로 돌아와 평범한 농부의 삶을 살았습니다. 곧 마오리족은 숨겨진 사무라이를 추적했고, 마을 주민 소에몬(하시모토 이사오)은 사무라이를 죽이려고 계획했다. 사무라이는 죽기 전에 저주를 내렸고, 그것을 모함한 자들은 잔인하게 죽었습니다. 그 후 저주가 이루어지고 쇼자에몬을 포함해 8명이 죽고 마을 이름이 하치 고분 마을로 바뀌었습니다. 쇼와 24년, 도쿄에서 비행기 조종사로 일하고 있던 테라다 타츠미(하기와라 켄이치 분)는 갑자기 자신이 오카야마현 모자묘 마을의 대가족인 다지미 가문의 아들이라는 사실을 알게 된다. 당시 당주 히사야 다지미(야마자키 츠토무)가 중병에 걸렸고, 타츠미는 상속자로서 모자 무덤 마을로 소환됐다. 하지만 이번 여행은 매우 위험할 운명이다. 그를 맞이한 할아버지 이가와 우소마츠(카토 요시 분)는 만나자마자 독살됐다. 타츠야는 마을 사람들로부터 팔릉촌의 유래에 대해 알게 되었고, 쇼자에몬이 다지미 가문의 조상이라는 것도 알게 되었다. 비정상적인 죽음이 잇달아 발생합니다. 사무라이의 400년 저주인가? 아니면 그 뒤에 또 다른 음모가 있는 걸까요? 이 영화는 추리소설가 항구정시의 동명 원작을 각색한 작품이다.
