Japanese director Zenyuki Kishi's new film "(Un)Ordinary Desire" is an adaptation of "I heard Kirishima has quit" the novel "Masori" by best-selling author Ryo Asai. The multi-line narrative describes an office man who hates socializing, a single woman over thirty, an elementary school boy who runs a video and audio channel, a female college student who is afraid of the opposite sex, and a solitary male dancer. They seem to have nothing to do with each other, but they each have special hobbies that are not tolerated by society. Inagaki Goro and Aragaki Yui used their superb acting skills to expose the hypocrisy of society. In addition to deconstructing the conservative values of Japanese society, they boldly raised questions about how to define normality and pathology. Can minority groups really be included in mainstream values?
