Ivan's Childhood

The cruel war destroyed the childhood of 12-year-old boy Ivan (Nikolay Burlyaev). His mother and sister were killed by the German army in his early years. The young Ivan also had to go to the battlefield and became a scout who shuttled through war and death. Due to his age, Lieutenant Gokson could not even believe Ivan's identity, but from Captain Kochlin (Valentin Zubkov), he learned that the thin boy in front of him was so bold. Captain Kochlin hopes to take Ivan away from the battlefield and send him to study far away. However, Ivan refused to leave. This brave boy was determined to fight until the last moment of his life... The film won the Best Director Award at the 1962 San Francisco International Film Festival and the Golden Lion Award at the 1962 Venice Film Festival.
