Synopsis

The film shows the performance of the Russian Prince Alexander Nevsky in the 13th century when he led the army and civilians to defeat the predatory German Teutonic Knights of Livonia. Eisenstein drew on the techniques of folk narrative poetry to give this patriotic epic the distinct style of a magnificent opera. After the Teutonic Knights invaded Russia, they committed all kinds of evil. They sacked Pskov and hanged patriots.
