Laughing Marriage

This story describes the relationship between Fan Jiashu (played by Zhang Ying) and the singer Shen Fengxi (played by Mei Qi). Fan Jiashu discovered that Shen Fengxi was intelligent, so he helped her receive an education and shouldered the living expenses of her and her family. After several months of getting along, feelings developed between the two. However, Fan Jiashu met the artist Xiu Gu (played by Luo Yanqing) again, and learned that Xiu Gu's father Guan Shoufeng was seriously ill, so he obliged them to help them. In return, Guan Shoufeng intended to marry Xiugu to Fan Jiashu. However, Fan Jiashu declined politely and told him that he already had a sweetheart and entrusted them to take care of Shen Fengxi when he returned to his hometown to visit his mother. Xiugu felt lost. Shen Fengxi was deeply in love with Fan Jiashu, but was forcibly taken away by Liu Dashuai, an arrogant and domineering man, and became his concubine. Shen Fengxi suffered humiliation, but Fan Jiashu didn't care and agreed to escape with Shen Fengxi. However, Marshal Liu learned of this and severely injured Shen Fengxi, causing her to become mentally disturbed. Xiugu managed to sneak into Marshal Liu's mansion and contacted her father secretly, planning to assassinate Marshal Liu to help Shen Fengxi and Fan Jiashu get back together.
