Ruan Li (played by Chow Yun-fat) once participated in the Vietnam War. After the war, Ruan Li, who had no skills, lost his goal. He came to Hong Kong and became a killer. Although he was a murderer, Ruan Li retained a kind heart. In Hong Kong, he met a girl named Arlene (Guan Zhilin), and the two fell in love. However, during a mission, Arlene's father became Ruan Li's target and died unexpectedly. Gradually, Arlene became suspicious of Ruan Li's true identity, and her suspicion made her the next target. Ruan Li could not take action against Arin, so he took her on a journey to escape. On the way, Arin finally learned the truth about her father's death. Heartbroken, she was full of hatred for Ruan Li, and she vowed to avenge her father.
