Director:
Unexpectedly / he became famous because of his novel writing style / mixed prose / and his fondness for using buzzwords. He was subsequently published as a separate book by Samsung Book Company. Fan Yanqiao wrote a preface in front of the book / and Zhou Shoujuan wrote an inscription: "A strong pen can carry it alone"! The most beautiful things you can do. In fact / this book was originally structured as a novella / but was stretched into a long form (a total of 87 chapters / 1.2 million words) / like "a small foot enlarged"; one can imagine its loose structure. Therefore / although Gu intended to write a biography of the "New Nie Yinniang" (i.e. Fang Yuqin / the heroine of Huangjiang) / it was a failure. Even if he encouraged others to write "New Biography of Nie Yinniang" / he could not turn the tide. However / Gu was the first to try to create martial arts novels using new literary and artistic techniques / which can also be said to be "a trend but not a teacher". The book "The Heroine of the Wild River" pioneered the model of two heroes / a male and a female / wandering the rivers and lakes / which had a profound influence on later generations of martial arts novels. It was brought to the big screen in 1969 by director He Menghua.
