Children of the Bay Area

The 1999-2019 special tribute drama "The Curved Bay" for the 20th anniversary of Macau's return to the motherland tells the story of the Pacific wind that has been blowing slowly on the island of Macau for a hundred years, and nothing has changed. However, a wind at the last moment of the last century changed the fate of the island of Macau. It blew the island back to the embrace of the motherland, and the fate of the people of Macau also changed. Today, it has been nearly 20 years since Macau returned to the motherland. A group of Macau people represented by Huang Zijian, Biao Shu and Yu are the experiencers and witnesses of this change. They have experienced the inferior social status of the Chinese during the Portuguese-Macao government, experienced economic decline, and social security turmoil. They live in anxiety and confusion, and are in pain and wandering because they cannot see the future. After the handover, Macao people governed Macao under the principle of "one country, two systems". Their stories witnessed the central government's implementation of a series of policies such as liberalizing gambling rights through the Gambling Law and opening up free travel in some mainland provinces and cities during the global financial crisis, which stimulated and promoted Macao's economic development in adverse circumstances. Another hurricane that has never happened in a century has also caused unprecedented damage to Macau. The support from the mainland and the deployment of troops stationed in Macau to fight the disaster have made Macau people feel the warmth of the motherland even more. The changes in their destiny over the past ten years have witnessed the greatness of the motherland.
