The story begins in the 1970s. In a certain communications company, Jiang Shi'an (played by Guo Xiaodong), who was born in the countryside, fell in love with the beautiful female soldier Han Lin (played by Yuan Li), but Han Lin said nothing about it. Jiang Shi'an saw no hope of pursuing him, so he followed his father's arrangement and married a rural girl Cuihua (played by Zhao Rui).
