Half a Lifetime 2002

Old Shanghai in the 1930s. Gu Manzhen (played by Ruby Lin) is elegant and quiet. She takes care of her mother at home and works independently outside. Her relationship with her colleague Shen Shijun (played by Tam Yaowen) has just begun. Manzhen has a sister, Manlu (played by Jiang Qinqin), who worked as a dancer at the age of 17 to support her family. Later, she reluctantly gave up her first love and married Zhu Hongcai, who was rich and powerful and allowed the family to live a prosperous life. As Manlu aged, her beauty faded, and her mentality became weird. The love between Manzhen and Shijun did not develop smoothly. Although they were determined to love each other, they were opposed by Shijun's mother. She preferred that her son marry Cuizhi, a socialite in Nanjing. But she doesn't know that Cuizhi actually has another love in her heart. The relationship between Manzhen and Shijun was full of hardships, coupled with constant temptations, misunderstandings gradually emerged between the two.
