Mansion Gate 1

"The Mansion Gate" was written and directed by Guo Baochang and won the CCTV ratings championship in 2001. The play tells the story of the ups and downs of the medical family Baifu as it went through the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, warlord wars, and liberation. It faithfully reflects the gradual development process of Tong Ren Tang, a large family, with the historical development of the country and nation. The story spans the Guangxu period, the invasion of Beijing by the Eight-Power Allied Forces in 1900, the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1911, the September 18th Incident in 1931, and the July 7th Marco Polo Bridge Incident in 1937. Officialdom grievances, love and hate, business wins and losses. Composing a history of "Zhaimen", showing a magnificent and turbulent picture of social life, parents and children, wives, concubines, prostitutes, beloved relatives and friends; "Zhaimen" people, composing a song of joys, sorrows, separations and destiny in the desolate world.
