The story takes place in a massively multiplayer online virtual reality game called NewWorld Online. On the recommendation of a friend, a rookie girl Maple (voiced by Kaede Honda) who had never played a game entered the game world for the first time. Due to her lack of game common sense, in the initial allocation of skill points, Maple focused all her skill points on defense. Therefore, she became a "human shield" character who could not cause damage to her no matter what kind of attacks she made. Accompanied by her friend Risa Shiromine (voiced by Ruriko Noguchi), Maple embarked on her journey. Maple, who had no attack power, soon discovered that she could not kill even a level 1 rabbit in this world. However, due to her superior defense, enemies with a much higher level than her could not harm her at all. Maple unexpectedly became an indispensable and important presence in the team.
