14 years ago, the awakening of Unit-001's suspected deified first form brought nearly three impacts, causing unprecedented changes in the world. After that, Misato Katsuragi (voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi) and other old NERV members left and established Wille to resist seele and NERV. Wille ordered Asuka (voiced by Yuko Miyamura) and Mari (voiced by Maaya Sakamoto) to recapture Unit 1 and Shinji Ikari (voiced by Emi Ogata) who were sealed in the satellite orbit, but Shinji is absolutely prohibited from boarding Unit 1. Feeling the hostility around him, the ignorant Shinji followed Ayanami Rei (voiced by Hayashihara Emi) on board the suddenly invaded Unit 9, and returned to the devastated NERV headquarters. Here, he unexpectedly reunited with Ayanami, who had been thinking about it day and night, and learned from his father that he would co-pilot Unit 13 with the beautiful boy Kaoru Nagisa (voiced by Akira Ishida). The 14-year gap, the tremendous changes and emotional entanglements during this period left Shinji at a loss. And the seemingly gentle Kaoru revealed all kinds of incredible truths for him... This film is the third part of EVA's new theatrical version of the tetralogy.
