The film is adapted from Mohamedou Ould Slahi's memoir "Guantánamo Diary", telling the story of Slahi (Tahar Rahim) ) was captured by the U.S. government, imprisoned without charge or sentence, and endured 14 years of imprisonment and torture. When he is about to lose hope, Slahi seeks the help of defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Jodie Foster) and assistant Terry Duncan (Shailene Woodley).
